Josh Gordon is Working Out Like a Madman in Preparation for His NFL Return
Two seasons ago, Josh Gordon set the NFL on fire. Selected by the Cleveland Browns in the second round of the 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft, Gordon cemented himself as one of the best wide receivers in the game the following year when he caught 87 passes for thrown by quarterbacks like Brandon Weeden and Brian Hoyer for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns.
A suspension for driving while impaired cost Gordon much of the 2014 season. He appeared in only five games and looked nothing like the tall, graceful receiver we’d come to know. A subsequent suspension, for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, was levied during the off-season, costing him the entire 2015 season.
Last week, Gordon officially applied for reinstatement. Commissioner Roger Goodell has 60 days to decide whether Gordon will don the orange and brown again in 2016. In the meantime, Gordon has been putting in some serious work to ensure he’s in football shape if and when he returns to an NFL training camp.
According to his Snapchat, Gordon has spent much of his off-season in Los Angeles, working out at EXOS L.A., at times with teammate and All-Pro cornerback Joe Haden. A recent workout documented on Gordon’s Snapchat features the wideout performing a series of on-field drills, like Resisted 5-Yard Decelerations and footwork drills through a series of colored cones.
From there, Gordon moves into the gym where he puts himself through an intense workout.
Gordon begins by alternating between Weight Vest Resisted Pull-Ups and Bulgarian Split-Squats.
He then moves into his second round of exercises, Inverted Rows using TRX Straps and Farmer’s Walks with dumbbells.
Gordon does Dumbbell Squats followed by Rotational Cable Chops as his next round of work.
He repeats many of these exercises, but pairs them differently, before finishing off his day with some Med Ball Partner Sit-Ups.
It’s all in a day’s work for Gordon, who recovers with a tasty-looking protein shake.
