‘Justice League Part 1’ Coming in 2017; ‘Part 2’ in 2019
Justice League Part 1 will reach theaters in 2017, and the sequel will follow in 2019, Warner Bros. confirmed late last week.
Zack Snyder will direct both films. Amy Adams, who plays Lois Lane in Man of Steel and the upcoming Batman vs. Superman, and Ben Affleck, who stars as Batman, are both slated to reprise their roles. Thus far, no one else has been confirmed, but Henry Cavill will probably appear as Superman, along with Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Cyborg and Green Lantern.
Dawn of Justice writer Chris Terrio is rumored to be writing the script for the two potential blockblusters. Deadline reports that Terrio impressed the studio with his rewrite of David S. Goyer’s script for Dawn of Justice and is already in talks to take on the task.
Early reports indicated that the superhero team will come together to take on supervillains Doomsday or Darkseid. But the latest rumor suggests that it will be Brainiac who unites the heroes for the first time on the big screen. The alien humanoid (or android, depending on the comic book) has ties to Superman’s ancestral home of Krypton and even had dealings with Lex Luthor, who is expected to appear in Dawn of Justice. During a recent “Meet the Movie Press” podcast, Latino-Review reporter El Mayimbe said sources told him that when Superman activated the Kryptonian ship that alerted Zod to his presence, he also caught the attention of Brainiac.
