STACKlete Justin Verlander Named Major League Baseball 2K12 Cover Athlete
You’ve seen four-time All-Star Justin Verlander train on STACK TV. Now one of Major League Baseball’s best-ever pitchers is getting the video game treatment, courtesy of 2K Sports, which named the AL Pitching Triple Crown winner its cover athlete for MLB 2K12.
“It’s a dream come true to be on the cover of Major League Baseball 2K12,” Verlander told 2K Sports. “I’ve worked closely with 2K Sports on the MLB 2K series since 2007, and I couldn’t be more excited to continue my relationship with such a great baseball game.”
On May 7, 2011, the Detroit Tigers ace chalked up his second career no-hitter, blanking the Toronto Blue Jays 9-0. He then proceeded to lead the Tigers all the way to the AL Central title and the American League Championship Series. Verlander is a lock for the AL Cy Young award, and it would come as no surprise if the 28-year-old phenomenon wins Most Valuable Player after leading the league in 2011 with 24 wins, 250 strikeouts and a 2.40 ERA. This guy dominated!
MLB 2K12 will be available in March 2012 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PSP, Nintendo DS and Windows PC. For more information, head on over to 2K Sports.
We’ll keep you posted on all things MLB 2K12 as we learn more. We’re excited to see what the folks behind the state-of-the art NBA 2K franchise put together to top themselves.
