Kate Beckinsale Stars in ‘The Disappointments Room’
Kate Beckinsale will star in the ghostly thriller The Disappointments Room, about a family terrorized by inexplicable events when they move into their beautiful dream house.
In this psychological thriller, inspired by true events, Beckinsale plays wife and mother Dana, who finds a long lost key to a secret room in the attic and subsequently unleashes unimaginable horror. One of the most shocking things she uncovers is that her own past is somehow intertwined with the house’s terrifying history.
Mel Raido (The Informers) stars as Dana’s husband David. Lucas Till of the X-Men film franchise plays Ben, a peculiar carpenter working at the house. The cast also features veteran actor Gerald McRaney (House of Cards), Michaela Conlin (Bones), Chris Matheny (It’s Supernatural), Marcia de Rousse (True Blood) and Duncan Joiner (Community) as the couple’s young son Lucas.
Directing the picture is filmmaker D. J. Caruso. The screenplay was written by Prison Break actor Wentworth Miller, who previously starred with Beckinsale in the 2003 hit vampire flick Underworld.
The Disaapointments Room will be released in theaters nationwide Sept. 25.
