Kevin Bacon Will Star in TV Adaptation of ‘Tremors’
Kevin Bacon is set to star in a television adaptation of his 1990 feature film Tremors. In addition to reprising his role as Valentine McKee, Bacon will also serve as an executive producer of the series, alongside Jason Blum (Whiplash; Insidious). The new series will be written by Andrew Miller, best known for another fantasy drama, The Secret Circle.
The sci-fi movie featuring giant killer worms was popular enough to spawn a big screen sequel, Tremors 2: Aftershocks (1996) and three direct-to-video sequels. And this is not the first attempt at a TV adaptation. In 2003, a show on the Sci Fi Channel called Tremors: The Series ran for one season.
Bacon seems enthusiastic about the idea of returning to this cult classic. He was quoted by Entertainment Weekly, saying: “I’d love to do something else with Tremors and revisit the character 25 years later.”
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but we know the story will return to Perfection, Nevada.
