Kid Cudi Announces ‘Speedin’ Bullet to Heaven’
Kid Cudi’s fifth studio album, Speedin’ Bullet to Heaven, will serve as a follow-up to 2014’s Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon. The rapper broadcast the news via Twitter.
Cudi had previously tweeted plans to release a third installment of his Man on the Moon series. It is unclear whether that project is still in the works and just on hold, or if it has been scrapped in favor of the new album.
“I can’t/won’t make MOTM3 [without] Pat, Emile [and] A-Trak in the studio. We started together, we finish this together. It’s time I assemble the team. And of course we always need Dot Da Genius,” wrote Cudder back in January. “We all had a vision we shared for this story. I can’t create the magic y’all want without their energy and genius to bounce off of.”
Perhaps assembling the team is taking more time than he anticipated. In any event, we’ll soon have new music from the Cleveland native. And he’ll also be on our small screens this summer. Starting July 10, Kid Cudi (instead of Reggie Watts) will play the role of bandleader on IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang!
Cudi’s future co-star Scott Aukerman said, “I can’t wait to start this new chapter of Comedy Bang! Bang! with Kid Cudi. When he was on the couch, I knew he had charisma and star quality, but I thought he should move slightly camera right. Plus, my wife and I have been trying to have a kid for several years, and this is the next best thing.”
