‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ In the Works
Kingsman: The Golden Circle, the sequel to the comic book-based action-adventure film Kingsman: Secret Service is currently in the works, with popular actor Taron Egerton returning as Eggsy.
In this new spy spoof, Eggsy and Merlin travel to the United States where they find an American version of their organization called Statesman, headed by a swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy and headquartered in a cleverly disguised whiskey distillery. Once they arrive, Eggsy and Merlin must defeat the villainous Poppy, played by Julianne Moore (The Hunger Games).
Colin Firth will reprise his role as Harry Hart, and Mark Strong will again play the part of Merlin. The all-star cast also features Halle Berry as Statesman leader Ginger, Channing Tatum, Sir Elton John, Pedro Pascal (Games of Thones), Jeff Bridges (Tron: Legacy), and Vinnie Jones (TV’s Arrow).
Matthew Vaughn will reportedly return to the director’s chair for this sequel. Vaughn also wrote the script with Jane Goldman, who collaborated on the screenplay for the first movie.
Filmmakers have been teasing enthusiastic fans for months. According to the Independent, “The first poster showed Harry’s trademark glasses lying on a letter reading ‘Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.’ Egerton shared the picture on Twitter and captioned it ‘A message from an old friend,’ prompting fans to breathe a collective sigh of relief that more Harry and Eggsy action sequences must surely await.”
Now filming, Kingsman: The Golden Circle will hit theaters on June 16, 2017.
