Kyrie Irving was nothing short of sensational in his Brooklyn Nets debut.

The all-star point guard totaled 50 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and zero turnovers in a performance that left the borough buzzing.

However, Irving did miss his final shot, which would’ve been an overtime game-winner.

But what happened next should maybe be even more inspiring for Nets fans than a single win.

Kyrie wanted to sulk in that moment. He wanted to blame himself for losing the game. He wanted to live in the negative.

But his teammates wouldn’t let him. They swarmed him with a tremendous amount of encouragement and positivity just seconds after the final buzzer, and Irving couldn’t help but feel the love.

“They’re ready to protect you from anything and everything. Even when I missed my last shot. You saw my teammates run all the way down from the bench and surround [me], just a bunch of love. ‘We got you’,” Irving said after the game.

“There’s no better feeling than that.”

We’ve seen other players miss game-winning shots only for their teammates to walk away in frustration. That’s a sign they’re not really a team—they’re just a group of individuals.

If the Nets keep this same type of positive chemistry and culture throughout the season, they should be just fine.
