TRAILER: Clive Owen and Morgan Freeman in ‘Last Knights’
Clive Owen and Morgan Freeman will headline the big screen feature Last Knight, an action-adventure film about a fallen warrior (Owen) who rises up against an evil ruler and leads a band of soldiers to avenge his dishonored master, who was unjustly executed by the tyrant.
The major themes of this sword fighting epic are loyalty, honor and vengeance. Not surprisingly, the film is already being compared to the HBO series Game of Thrones. But it also has oblivious similarities with Keanu Reeves’ ill-fated 47 Ronin.
The biggest takeaways from the newly released trailer are impressive performances from the Oscar-nominated Owen and the Oscar-winning Freeman, along with lots of raw, medieval-style battles.
The cast also features Cliff Curtis (Gang Related), James Babson (Hellboy), Pavel Bezdek (Mission: Impossible—Ghost Patrol), Shohreh Aghdashloo (Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters) and accomplished Norwegian actor Aksel Hennie (Hercules and the upcoming Matt Damon picture The Martian).
Last Knights was directed and co-produced by Kazuaki Kiriya, best known for the Japanese action films Goemon and Casshern. The screenplay was written by Michael Konyves and newcomer Dove Sussman.
Clive Owen, best known for dramas like Closer, was most recently seen on the small screen in the acclaimed early 20th Century hospital series The Knick. His future projects include the comedy film The Confirmation with Maria Bello and Patton Oswalt, debuting sometime in 2015.
Last Knights will head into theaters April 3. Watch the trailer below.
