LeBron James Gets Testy With Reporter Who Insinuated He Flopped, Calls Him ‘Whack’
Let’s be real. LeBron James has been known to exaggerate his reactions on the basketball court, whether it’s staying down for an extra second or two after being fouled on a drive to the rim or flexing his bicep after successfully completing an and-one. So when James went flying backwards after taking an arm to the mouth (from his own teammate, Tristan Thompson, no less) during a scuffle at midcourt last night, it would’ve been acceptable to believe James tried to embellish things a little bit.

Following the Cavs’ Game 3 loss to the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference Finals, a reporter decided to ask James whether he was trying to “sell” a call. The question didn’t sit well with James, and he responded accordingly. Here’s how the exchange went:
Reporter: “Did you realize who hit you and was it as bad as it looked? Or were you maybe trying to sell a call a bit?”
James: “You’re whack (laughs). I’m not trying to sell a call. I got hit with an elbow. I didn’t know from my own teammate. I thought it was DeMarre [Carroll], but I watched the replay, it was from my teammate. So no—sell a call for what? There was no call there to be sold. That’s it. I was going to say something else to you, but I’m going to leave it alone.”
And here’s video of the exchange (it’s the second question in the video):
Whether it was a flop or not, James clearly doesn’t take kindly to reporters questioning the legitimacy of his fall. After all, he did get hit squarely in the face. We’d probably be mad too.
