As the Miami Heat suited up last night, March 29, for a game against the team that beat them in the 2011 NBA Finals, LeBron James decided that his teammates would listen to his pre-game warm-up tunes. Instead of jamming out solo with his Beats by Dre headphones, the King proceeded to blast his sounds throughout the locker room. The songs included:
- Wu-Tang Clan, “Bring the Pain”
- Jay-Z, “Reservoir Dogs”
- DMX compilation
Michael Wallace on ESPN
The upbeat tracks clearly energized the team. The Heat scored 60 points in the first half and sealed the deal with an 11-2 run in the fourth quarter to scorch the Dallas Maverick by a 21-point margin. LeBron dropped 19 for the night. He got hit in the mouth, Dirk Nowitzki got a bloody nose, and Dwyane Wade visibly hurt his finger.
The effect was clear. LeBron’s spontaneous locker room soundtrack takeover sparked the Heat to a resounding victory.
