Liam Neeson to Star in Watergate Thriller ‘Felt’
Liam Neeson is set to play Mark Felt, the Watergate scandal informant, in the historical spy thriller Felt. In 2005, after 30 years of speculation, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein revealed the key source of their exposé: the man known as “Deep Throat” was actually former FBI agent Mark Felt. Thus was solved one of the biggest political mysteries in American history.
According to COMINGSOON.NET, “This unbelievable true story chronicles the personal and professional life of the brilliant and uncompromising Felt, who risked and ultimately sacrificed everything—his family, his career, his freedom—in the name of justice.”
Diane Lane (Man of Steel) will co-star as Felt’s wife. Jason Bateman (Horrible Bosses) has been cast as an FBI agent.
The movie is being written, directed and produced by Peter Landesman, best known for writing and producing Kill the Messenger. Landesman has been in the news lately for his much talked about sports drama Concussion, starring Will Smith, which is due out on Christmas Day.
Neeson recently wrapped up production on the highly anticipated fantasy drama A Monster Calls, scheduled for release on Oct. 14, 2016.
Felt is scheduled to begin filming next March.
