Could Lil Wayne Be Releasing ‘Dedication 6’ Soon?
Lil Wayne isn’t letting his ongoing legal war with Cash Money Records slow him down. A recent Instagram post from frequent collaborator DJ Drama points to the two coming together again to record another installment in their ongoing mixtape series, Dedication.
Drama posted a pic on social media with the caption: “Sorry For the Wait 2. Carter V. Dedication 6.”
Although the caption definitely suggests the mixtape is coming, it also implies we’ll have to wait until after Tha Carter V to get it, and it may be a while before that happens. According to reports, Birdman was infuriated after Weezy blasted him on his latest mixtape. Adding to the fallout, Wayne filed a $51 million lawsuit against his former mentor and label Cash Money. He accuses his longtime recording home of failing to properly account for marketing charges related to Young Money artists. He also alleges that he signed an extension that entitled him to a $10 million bonus for completing Tha Carter V, but hasn’t received the money.
Dedication V was released in 2013, shortly after I Am Not a Human Being II. It featured collaborations with Future, Chance the Rapper, T.I., Vado and singer The Weeknd, among others. The recently released Sorry 4 the Wait 2 features the New Orleans-bred MC rapping over popular beats like O.T. Genasis’ “CoCo,” OG Maco’s “You Guessed It,” Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot N****,” and Beyonce’s “Drunk in Love.”
