LOOK: Oregon’s Ridiculous New Throwback Uniforms Turn Back the Clock to 1916
By now, you’re probably used to the University of Oregon football team donning all sorts of crazy alternate uniforms.
Chrome and white? Been there.
Neon and black? Done that.
But a tribute to the 1916 Oregon Webfoots? Now there’s a new one. From the team’s official Facebook page:
The 100th anniversary of Oregon’s first Rose Bowl team will be celebrated when the UO football team takes the field Saturday for its annual spring game. The two teams that will match up in Autzen Stadium and on Pac-12 Networks at 11 a.m. — “Webfoots” and “Mighty Oregon” — will wear true throwbacks, to the 1916 season that ended with the Ducks beating Penn in the Rose Bowl, 14-0. Until 1925, the football team wore blue, yellow and white, which will be reflected in the uniforms worn Saturday.
Unlike the Webfoots’ 1916 attire, these uniforms will feature all of the latest innovations from Nike. Unique details include lyrics from the Oregon fight song printed on the sleeves and a helmet sticker from the now defunct Pacific Coast Conference.
