The Lakers Plan to Install a Shaq Statue and it Looks Freakin’ Awesome
How do you say “thank you” to a player who, in eight seasons, helped you win three NBA Championships, earned three NBA Finals MVP awards and an NBA MVP award? If you’re the Los Angeles Lakers and the athlete is Shaquille O’Neal, you do it by installing a freaking awesome statue.
Seriously, as far as statues go, this might be the coolest thing we’ve ever seen:

The Lakers plan on installing it outside the STAPLES Center next year. More details per NBA.com:
AEG organizations commissioned the creation of a 1,200 pound, nine-foot bronze statue of the NBA Hall of Fame member. O’Neal’s statue will be connected to STAPLES Center, suspended 10 feet above the ground, at Star Plaza.
The question now becomes: Will Kobe Bryant demand that his soon-to-be constructed statue be bigger and gaudier than O’Neal’s?
The unveiling of the Shaq statue is slated to take place on March 24, 2017.
