Ludacris Releases New Mixtape #IDGAF
Ludacris has released a new mixtape to commemorate the release of Fast & Furious 6 (in which he stars) and promote his upcoming eighth solo album.
He announced the project during an interview with XXL earlier this month. “The mixtape is coming out the same day as the movie, May 2. And then my album Ludaversal will be out sometime in the fall, around September,” the Atlanta-based rapper told the magazine. “It’s a lot of good music and I feel great, man.”
The ten-song effort features collaborations with French Montana, Chris Brown, Mac Miller, Pusha T, Meek Mill and Swizz Beatz. Producer Metro Boomin, known for his work on Future’s “Karate Chop,” is behind three of the beats. Mike Will Made It, Bangladesh and The Internz also make contributions.
One of the songs, “Mad Fo” is already causing quite a stir. The six-minute dedication to haters with Swizz on the hook features a number of artists who have had previous beefs with Drake. But Ludacris insists that the track is not a shot at his one-time nemesis. The others merely happened to jump on the song after hearing it in the studio, though if you listen closely, it seems that Pusha is targeting someone in the Young Money camp.
“I didn’t even think about that,” admitted the MC/actor during a recent interview. “…Make no assumptions, just listen to the track. You can make your own assumptions, but I definitely would never make assumptions just based off who’s featured on a record…I’m not talking to anyone specific.”
