Amazon’s Madden NFL 25 to Come With NFL Sunday Ticket
Electronic Arts will celebrate the 25 year anniversary of its Madden franchise by releasing a special edition of the game through Amazon.
The Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition, available for purchase exclusively through the online retailer, will feature 17 Madden Ultimate Team card packs—one for each week of the NFL season. Each card pack include two rare players and four silver and bronze players. In addition, fans will receive a free one-year subscription to DirecTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket service, allowing them to watch all of the out-of-market NFL games throughout the season.
According to Joystiq, the service will be limited to computers, tablets and mobile devices. But fans who can get DirecTV service in their area will be eligible for a $10 discount on a monthly service for their TV (starting at $225) and a free upgrade to the NFL Sunday Ticket MAX.
The Anniversary Edition, which will be released on August 27, is currently available for pre-order on Amazon for $99.99. Only 100,000 copies are available—50,000 for those purchasing it for the Xbox 360 console and 50,000 for the PS3 platform.
FIFA 14 Will Not Come to Wii U
The bad news continues to pour in for Wii U gamers. EA has officially announced that they will not be releasing the upcoming FIFA 14 for the Wii U console due to its predecessor’s poor sales on the platform. The news isn’t much of a surprise. The publisher recently announced plans to skip the console for Madden 25 and NHL 14.
“Although FIFA 13 on Wii U featured our award-winning HD gameplay and innovative new ways to play, the commercial results were disappointing,” an EA rep told Eurogamer. The rep referred to a “strong partnership” with Wii U and said they would continue to “evaluate opportunities” to work together. But things don’t look promising. Earlier this month, EA spokesperson Jeff Brown admitted that the company currently does not have any games in development for the Wii U.
SimCity’s Amusement Park DLC Coming Later This Month
Maxis and EA officially announced plans to release an “Amusement Park” DLC for SimCity. Their hands were forced after a leak from a UK retailer.
“Some of you may have seen thrilling new SimCity content that arrived too early at the gate. It’s coming May 28. We think you’ll be amused,” reads a message on the official SimCity Twitter account.
The new content will allow the city’s mayor to design the park’s layout and select the rides and entrances. The now-deleted retail listing noted that “the large influx of shoppers that amusement parks bring benefit local commercial businesses. Happy tourists will even stay in local hotels to shop or visit the amusement park another day.”
It is not a standalone, so you will need SimCity in order to use the DLC. The price of the content has not yet been released.
