Thriller ‘Maps to the Stars’ Coming Soon
John Cusack and Robert Pattinson star in the highly anticipated big screen thriller Maps to the Stars.
Cusack plays Los Angeles-based psychotherapist and life coach guru Stafford Weiss, who has amassed a fortune writing self-help books. His wife Christina manages the career of their 13-year-old TV star son Benji, who has just gotten out of rehab. Another troubled family member is the couple’s estranged daughter Agatha, who has recently been released from a psychiatric hospital. Pattinson plays Jerome, a limo driver and aspiring actor who befriends Agatha.
Several provocative story lines play out against the backdrop of show business. Both Weiss’s clientele and his own dysfunctional family are explored. The characters’ demons take many forms: ambition, death, ghosts and all sorts of vices. One of the most intriguing of Weiss’s high-profile clients is fading star Havana Segrand (Julianne Moore), who wants to reprise her late mother Clarice’s starring role.
The impressive ensemble cast also includes Olivia Williams (from the TV series Manhattan), Sarah Gadon (Dracula Untold), Mia Wasikowska (Lawless) and Evan Bird (The Killing).
The film was directed by David Cronenberg, often called the “King of Venereal Horror” for his 1986 cult horror classic The Fly, and more recently the spy thriller Eastern Promises.
The screenplay was written by Bruce Wagner, best known for A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.
Maps to the Stars is due to hit theaters nationwide on Feb. 27, 2015.
