adidas Unveils New Uniforms for March Madness
March Madness is in the air, and adidas has unveiled a new adizero uniform system for six collegiate teams to wear during the 2013 NCAA basketball tournament. The uniforms feature adidas’s most advanced uniform technology and limited-edition camouflage prints.
Baylor University, the University of California Los Angeles and the University of Louisville will wear the groundbreaking adizero short sleeve uniform system, which was debuted earlier this month by the Golden State Warriors. The University of Cincinnati, University of Kansas and University of Notre Dame will wear the adizero sleeveless uniform system.
“The adizero uniform system gives players the leading performance technology with a distinctive on-court style,” said Chris McGuire, adidas director of sports marketing. “The NCAA postseason brings together the best teams in the country, and these uniforms celebrate the excitement of the game, letting players stand out during college basketball’s biggest moments. These programs will wear the most innovative basketball uniforms and footwear to help them elevate their game during the most important time of the year.”
Designed for a bold on-court look and engineered to enhance player performance by improving fit, comfort and mobility, the adizero short sleeve uniform system is made of 60 percent recycled materials and features FORMOTION technology for comfort and maximum mobility during shooting and dribbling. Jersey armhole insets with 360-degree stretch fabric promote free range of motion for the arms and shoulders.
Both sets of uniforms incorporate adidas’s quick-drying Revolution 30 technology and have ClimaCool zones to move heat and moisture away from the body, keeping the jersey light and dry despite heavy sweating. The super-lightweight woven short is designed for improved breathability and a closer, more comfortable fit with compression base layers.
The adizero uniform system also features the latest adidas Team Speed sock, which has built-in compression for stability and CLIMALITE moisture wicking technology to keep the foot cool and dry throughout the game. Players will also wear the adidas Crazy Fast basketball shoe with its new SPRINTWEB design, featuring tighter panels on the upper to improve support, reduce weight and make players quicker and more comfortable on the court.
The uniform’s limited-edition design and coloring were created for this season’s NCAA basketball postseason run. The impact camo pattern lets players stand out on college basketball’s biggest stage, while patches on the backs of the jerseys feature school-specific details that pay tribute to team spirit and pride. Teams will suit up in the new adizero uniform systems beginning with conference tournament play March 13-17. Fans can pick up team gear on March 1 at adidas.com and campus bookstores.
