Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lance Reddick and Leland Orser Star in ‘Faults’
The feature film thriller Faults, starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead (The Spectacular Now), Lance Reddick and Leland Orser, centers on Claire, a young woman under the influence of a new cult. Desperate to get their daughter back, Claire’s parents hire Ansel Roth, a highly regarded expert on cults and mind control, to rescue her. To carry out his mission, Roth must kidnap her and deprogram her.
This project would seem to be an intense dramatic thriller, but it also contains a surprising amount of dark humor. One ironic aspect of the story is that Roth’s own life is a wreck, characterized by professional failures and money problems. By the time he sets out to save Claire from the people who are brainwashing her, he need help almost as much as she does.
Starring as Ansel is Leland Orser (the Taken franchise and The Gambler). Lance Reddick plays Mick, a debt collector from Ansel’s publisher. The cast also includes Orser’s Taken co-star Jon Gries, along with Kellie Matteson (G.I. Joe: Retaliation), Leonard Earl Howze (The Lone Ranger) and Beth Grant (The Mindy Project).
The film was written and directed by Winstead’s husband Riley Stearns, best known for the TV series Tower Prep. Based on the filmmaker’s blacklisted script, this movie marks Stearns’ feature film debut.
Faults will be released March 6.
