Tonight, Jan. 25, the University of Maryland basketball team will take on Duke at 9 p.m. EST on ESPN. But this night is not just about the game. At halftime, the school will honor former men's head basketball coach Gary Williams by naming the home court at the Comcast Center in his honor. Williams, who led the Terps to the 2002 National Championship and two Final Four appearances, directed the program for more than 20 years before stepping down earlier this year. He's now a special assistant to the school's athletic director.
In a further tribute to Coach Williams, Under Armour will supply the Maryland team with limited edition sneakers for tonight's game. The players will be sporting the Micro G Bloodline and the Micro G Juke in Maryland-themed colors; and Williams will be presented with his own Micro G Funk in a special edition case (see above photo).
Here's a look at the ultra-limited edition shoes. Tune in ESPN tonight to see them in action.
