Meek Mill to Release Debut Novel, ‘Tony’s Story’
Meek Mill will release his debut novel, Tony’s Story, on May 1. It will be available in both paperback and e-book format.
The novel follows the lives of two childhood friends, Tony and Ty, in their pursuit of riches. As greed pushes them apart, their relationship is tested. Adding to the drama, a deadly shooting shakes up the neighborhood. Those affected both mourn their loss and plot their revenge. Loyalty is a premium commodity in the ‘hood, and when it is tested, we learn that some decisions have fatal consequences.
Fans of the Philly-bred rapper will recognize links between this story and the lyrics from his Dreamchasers mixtape series. In fact, the book will hit shelves just ahead of the third installment of that series, which is slated to hit the internet on May 6.
Meek Mill is not the only rapper who has ventured into the literary world. 50 Cent has released several books, and others such as Common and producer Pharrell have also published books. Lil Wayne will release his oft-delayed memoir Gone Til November on May 14.
In other news, Meek Mill—number ten on MTV’s Hottest MC list this year—plans to embark on a tour next month. Dubbed Dreams Come True, it will be presented by Live Nation. After kicking off on April 4 in Boston and stopping in New York, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles and Dallas, the tour will wrap up in San Francisco on April 28.
