Inside the Rankings: Texas A&M Men’s Track and Field
Texas A&M track & field coach Pat Henry is building a dynasty. This summer, both the Aggies men’s and women’s outdoor track teams made history by winning the NCAA team championships for the third year in a row under his watch, an NCAA record. Since he came to College Station in 2004, Henry has turned the program into a consistent winner. The school has since opened the state-of-the-art Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.
Throughout his tenure, Henry has emphasized both athletic and academic excellence. This year, two members of the men’s track team were honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America as First-Team Academic All-Americans in the school’s six-state region. One of those athletes, Will Barry, who has maintained a 4.0 GPA as a civil engineering major, became one of six Aggies to win the Dr. Gerald Lage Award, the Big 12’s highest academic honor.
