Michael Rapaport and Kevin James Star in WWII Drama ‘Little Boy’
In the upcoming war-time comedy/drama Little Boy, a young boy is determined to achieve the seemingly impossible task of bringing his soldier father back from World War II. Taking place during the early phase of the war, the story involves a family in small town America and centers on Pepper Flynt Busbee, an 8-year-old boy with developmental issues, whose only friend is his father. When his father goes away to fight in the war, Pepper has his own battles to face, as he is forced to confront bullying classmates and others.
The cast includes Michael Rapaport, Emily Watson, Kevin James, David Henrie (How I Met Your Mother), and Tom Wilkinson (Batman Begins). Making his feature film debut is newcomer Jakob Salvati as Pepper.
The movie was written, produced and directed by Alejandro Monteverde, best known for the 2006 feature film drama Bella. Pepe Portillo is collaborating with Monteverde on the screenplay.
Two of the executive producers are Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, who have been busy with a number of inspirational projects lately, including the recently released Son of God, which grossed over $67 million.
Tom Ortenberg of Open Roads, the company distributing the film, was quoted by Variety as saying, “Little Boy is a truly uplifting movie that resonates with family audiences, and we are thrilled to add it to our slate. Roma Downey and Mark Burnett are some of the most successful producers in this arena, and we are looking forward to working with them on this project.”
Little Boy will be released in theaters nationwide Feb. 27, 2015.
