Microsoft to Feature Ford GT as ‘Forza Motorsport 6’ Cover Car
Microsoft announced plans to release Forza Motorsport 6. The Xbox One exclusive will commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the series and feature the recently unveiled Ford GT on the cover. Check out the trailer below.
“Just as Ford has pushed the boundaries of car technology in the GT, Forza Motorsport 6 will embrace that spirit of innovation as our most technically advanced racing simulation to date, offering a fun and realistic automotive experience for both car lovers and gamers,” said Turn 10 Studios creative director Dan Greenawalt. “We’re excited to unveil gameplay at E3 in June.”
According to studio manager Alan Hartman at the North American International Auto Show, the game franchise has become increasingly important to the auto industry in recent years, and his comments were backed up by Ford’s Raj Nair, who revealed they created the GT with alternative avenues for brand exposure in mind.
“When we started working on the GT, probably a year ago, we were already thinking along these lines,” said Nair. “I think that’s a reflection of how important Forza‘s become to the automotive industry, an exposure to so many customers—often, their first exposure to the brand or their first exposure to a specific vehicle is actually through Forza. So early on, we knew this would be part of the plan.”
Ford’s performance vehicle line-up, which includes the Shelby GT-350 Mustang and the F-150 Raptor, will also appear in the game.
A release date has not been announced yet. But when asked whether fans could expect to see the title on shelves later this year, Hartman was hopeful.
