‘Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation’ Coming Soon
Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner return for Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, the fifth installment in the popular franchise, which tells the story of what may prove to be the team’s most impossible mission ever. It’s up to them to eradicate the Syndicate, an International rogue organization which is determined to destroy the IMF.
Simon Pegg is reprising his role as Benji Dunn. The film also stars Ving Rhames, Alec Baldwin, Simon McBurney (The Theory of Everything), Rebecca Ferguson (Hercules) and Sean Harris, best known for the sci-fi adventure epic Prometheus.
The movie was written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who previously worked with Cruise on Jack Reacher and wrote the script for his film Edge of Tomorrow.
Cruise has a reputation for doing his own stunts in films, and this movie was no exception. Entertainment Weekly quoted McQuarrie talking about how willing Cruise was when it came to the stunts: “They brought me this plane, and I was looking at the model,” says McQuarrie. “And I said to Tom, ‘What if you were on the outside of this plane?’ I was kinda half joking when I said it, and he just looked at me and said, ‘Yeah, I could do that.'”
Co-star Ferguson, who suffers from extreme vertigo, was less than enthusiastic about the wild stunts she was called upon to do, saying: “Of course, the first scene we did, Tom and me, was throwing ourselves off a Vienna rooftop. I was going to say, ‘It couldn’t get worse,’ but it definitely did.”
Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation will hit 2D and IMAX theaters nationwide on July 31.
