'Mortal Kombat X' Gets a Release Date

'Mortal Kombat X' finally has a release date. Learn about its new features at STACK.com.

Over the weekend, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced that Mortal Kombat X will hit shelves April 14, 2015, for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The publisher also announced that pre-ordering the title will give gamers access to four-armed warrior Goro, who first appeared in the original Mortal Kombat.

The game, which is set 25 years after the events of Mortal Kombat 9, will introduce several new features, including the ability to choose a character's fighting style. Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has also teased that the game will bring back some old features, including a fan favorite, Fatality type.

"For those who are familiar with Mortal Kombat, we first had the Fatality, and we added the Babality. We had the Friendship moves, Brutality moves and all of these crazy things over the years. We are going to be reinstating an '-ality' from a previous game into Mortal Kombat X. And I can't wait to be able to talk about it, but at the moment I can't," Boon said.

Developer NetherRealm Studios has slowly been introducing the roster. Kano is the latest. But with the mix of old characters and newbies, don't be surprised if your favorite doesn't make the cut. "A lot of the new characters are those that came into power after MK9. Kotal Khan is one of them. He was one of the rulers of Outworld during that 25-year period, and the story mode basically follows his rise and fall," Bonn told IGN. "So yeah, a lot of old faces won't make the roster, but to us it was more important we did introduce new characters. We're probably introducing more in this game than in any other MK title ever."
