‘NBA 2K16’ Coming in September; Pre-Order Offers Early Access
NBA 2K16 will arrive on shelves Sept. 29.
As in the past, the new edition will feature celebrity involvement. According to reports, award-winning director Spike Lee is collaborating with the developer and will contribute to the game’s career mode. He follows in the footsteps of Jay-Z, who executive produced the title back in 2013, and famed producer Pharrell, who curated last year’s soundtrack.
Three different basketball stars will grace this year’s cover: Golden State MVP Stephen Curry, Houston guard James Harden and Oklahoma City forward Kevin Durant. It marks Curry’s first involvement with the series, Harden’s first cover (he appeared in ads last year), and Durant’s third appearance up front.
Pre-ordering the game ahead of its fall arrival will net players in-game bonuses like $10,000 in virtual currency and a MyTEAM VIP Package, which will differ based on your console of choice. For Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC Players, it will feature two MyTEAM Emerald Packs, each with a guaranteed Emerald player. Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers will receive a MyTEAM Gold Booster pack with a guaranteed Gold player and four additional gold items.
Early birds will also get access to the complete game on Sept. 25, four days ahead of its scheduled release.
“NBA 2K16 promises to be one of the most groundbreaking sports titles in video game history, combining exciting new features with uncanny realism,” said marketing exec Alfie Brody. “We’re always seeking new ways to excite and ignite our fans’ tremendous passion for the franchise, and offering unmatched early access is just another way to bring them closer to the on-court action they crave.”
