That’s one way to fire up the troops.
Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost, perhaps sensing that players training in Surprise, Arizona need exactly that, took a break from the typical Spring Training routine to smash things. And not just any old things. Cement blocks. Four of them, in fact.
The stunt was part of a presentation by motivational speaker Donnie Moore. According to Moore’s website, attendees at his speeches “break bricks and bats, bend steel bars, rip phone books in half, and share a life changing message of hope!”
Yost, who turned 60 during the team’s championship run last season, says he’s done stunts like this before. “Nothin’ to it,” he said.
