Seth Rogen is wasting no time in making a sequel to his hugely popular comedy feature Neighbors. The irreverent satire, filmed on a relatively small budget of $18 million, surpassed expectations by raking in $268 million worldwide.
Rogen will reprise his starring role and reunite with many members of the original film’s team, including co-stars Zac Efron, Rose Byrne and director Nicholas Stoller.
Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O’Brien, who wrote the first picture, are coming back to write the script for the sequel.
Following the controversy surrounding his big screen political satire The Interview, Rogen returns in Neighbors 2 to the zany, lightweight comedy he knows best. Along with frequent collaborators Evan Goldberg and James Weaver, he will again serve as a producer under the banner Point Grey Productions. Cohen and O’Brien will executive produce.
Set to premiere almost exactly two years after its predecessor, Neighbors 2 will be released in theaters nationwide on May 13, 2016.
