WATCH: 5 Post Moves From Nerlens Noel

These videos show how Nerlens Noel elevated his game by working on some basic post moves.

Averaging 9.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game, with five double-doubles in his last 10 games, Philadelphia 76ers center Nerlens Noel is definitely emerging as a candidate for NBA Rookie of the Year.

Noel sat out last season due to a knee injury, but in addition to rehabbing, last May he teamed up with CoachUp, a platform that connects athletes across the country with local coaches. The mission resonated for Noel, who has worked with private coaches in the past. According to Noel, the biggest benefit for him was confidence.

"When I made a move, I wasn't really sure if I was going to hit the shot. That all [changed] with just being in the gym with someone who can harness that inside of you, of knowing and having the confidence, that when you shoot that free throw, you're going to make it," he said.

Noel recognizes that even at the elite level, your game always has room for improvement—both by sheer repetition and going back to the basics.

CoachUp recently produced several videos breaking down five basic post moves that Noel executes with finesse and accuracy. In the two posted below, you'll see how fundamental the moves are in general, but when you break them down, you'll find a lot to work on, like footwork and reading the defender. Other little things are also addressed, like coming to the ball and bouncing your one-time dribble with two hands instead of one to maintain control of the basketball.
