Pros' Picks: Gridiron Gamers
Below, NFL superstars Adrian Peterson, Brandon Lloyd and Aaron Rodgers share thoughts about their favorite video games.
Peterson: “Zelda was the only game I really remember playing to the point where my Mom had to come in and say, ‘Boy, turn that game off, it’s time to go to bed.’” But now the four-time All-Pro running back is playing Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, as he prefers single-player games with assigned missions. “I’ve always been that kind of gamer.”
Lloyd: The 2010 All-Pro wide receiver set his alarm for 11:45 p.m. on Nov. 7, so he’d be awake and ready to pick up the midnight release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Lloyd loves the camaraderie and competition spawned by the Call of Duty franchise. “Every team I’ve been on,” he says, “we’ve had a huge following. That game, it brings people together. I still have guys I play [COD] with who are out of the league.” And gameplay is easy with a 60-inch LED TV for his PS3 and Xbox 360.
Rodgers: The 2010 Super Bowl MVP quarterback says, “My favorite video game of all time is probably Halo.” No surprise that one of the NFL’s most accurate passers feels right at home in a game where you lock onto targets and fire away. (Sometimes, this stuff writes itself.)
