Nike’s Ultimate Football Performance Cleat: The Air Zoom Alpha Talon
Superior lockdown fit, premium cushioning and the ultimate in traction all wrapped up in a lightweight shoe—expect nothing less from Nike’s most innovative cleat, the Air Zoom Alpha Talon.
Freshly unveiled during the 2010 Nike Football Media Preview, held Dec. 14 in Dallas Cowboys Stadium, the cleat addresses the demands of every position on the field. “This shoe is what any football player would want,” says Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe.
The Air Zoom Alpha Talon is the first football cleat to offer adaptive traction. The forefoot is constructed with interior cleats, which extend when pressure is applied. The added traction allows you to accelerate at top speed, giving traction when you need it—without digging into the ground when you don’t. The heel features traction technology called Sharkteeth, which Nike football footwear design director Ken Link says gives players added traction for multi-directional movement on the field.
For premium cushioning, the heel is designed with Nike Zoom Air. Around the heel, supportive Z-Bar technology helps lock in your foot and provides ankle support.
The ankle collar is constructed with Deflex padding for lightweight, breathable protection. Link says that Kurim, a durable, breathable technology, is built in around the ankle for added support. The built-for-speed cleat also incorporates Nike Flywire technology, a lightweight support system that locks in your foot for better explosive movement.
The Nike Air Zoom Alpha Talon drops Feb. 2011. Be on the lookout at STACK.com for a video interview with Link about the Air Zoom Alpha Talon.
