Ole Miss’ Top Receiver Drew a Flag For This Bizarre Celebration at The Worst Possible Time
The Egg Bowl is a big deal.
Entering Thursday, the football teams of Mississippi State and Ole Miss had clashed 115 times, with their first meeting coming way back in 1901.
The 116th meeting will go down as one of the wildest of all time.
Contested on Mississippi State’s home turf in Starkville, the Bulldogs led the Rebels by a score of 21-14 with time ticking down in regulation.
Then, with just four seconds left on the clock, Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral slung a two-yard touchdown pass to receiver Elijah Moore.
Moore, the Rebels’ top receiver, then proceeded to celebrate by mimicking a dog urinating in the direction of State’s student section:

Unsurprisingly, Moore was flagged for excessive celebration, which pushed the potential game-tying extra point back 15 yards.
Ole Miss kicker Luke Logan proceeded to miss the kick wide right, sealing a 21-20 victory for Mississippi State.
“It’s not who we are, we’ve been a disciplined team all year. Just disappointed that happened,” Ole Miss head coach Matt Luke told reporters of the incident after the game.
“That’s not who he is. Elijah’s a good kid. He got caught up in the moment.”
