Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval is listed at 5-foot-11, 240 pounds. Pablo Sandoval is not 240 pounds. He has ballooned to what looks to be 300-pound territory after several seasons of progressively getting further and further out of shape. He’s never been called fit, but his sloppiness reached an all-time high this off-season, and it has become a huge concern for the Red Sox.

Sandoval hasn’t been in the team’s starting lineup until today, partly due to dissatisfaction with his lack of conditioning. Sandoval stepped up to bat against the Toronto Blue Jays hoping to prove to everyone that his enormous belly was a non-factor by taking an explosive cut and driving the ball deep into the outfield. He was successful with the first part.

Instead of taking his anger out on the ball, Sandoval and his portly midsection powerfully destroyed his helpless belt, which had been holding on for dear life. Watch the video below, which shows the violent wardrobe malfunction.
