Patton Oswalt to Co-Star in New Sitcom Pilot
Patton Oswalt (Veep) is joining Fox’s upcoming workplace sitcom pilot.
Starring Judy Greer, and with the working title HR, the single camera program, according to The Hollywood Reporter “centers around Jane (Judy Greer), who is caught between trying to manage her charmingly incompetent human resources department and a new eccentric CEO (Oswalt) who dreams of bringing the New Jersey plastics plant into the future.”
Oswalt’s character, Sam, is an energetic go-getter who’s full of big ideas. The problem is, none of them seem suitable for the small town plant.
So far, the only other castmate who’s been announced is Jon Daly, who co-starred with Oswalt in 2013’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
Writer/producer Laura Steinel (Amazon series Red Oaks), wrote the pilot and will co-exec produce with Jeff Schaffer (The League), who is directing the pilot.
If the show is picked up, it will be Patton Oswalt’s first stint as a series regular since he co-starred on King of Queens. But Oswalt has kept busy over the past 10 years. In addition to movie roles, he has played recurring characters on several series, including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He will soon be seen in big screen sci-fi thriller The Circle.
For years, Judy Greer was known for playing the “best friend” role in romantic comedies, leading the actress to name her memoir I Don’t Know What You Know Me From: My Life as a Co-Star. She has recently transitioned to leading roles. Currently, she is filming the next installment of the Planet of the Apes franchise, in which she will reprise the part of Cornelia.
