‘Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2’ Is On the Way
Kevin James is returning as everyone’s favorite security guard in Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, the sequel to his hit 2009 film about an uptight guard, an object of ridicule until he heroically takes on a gang of criminals holding the mall under siege.
The sequel takes place in Las Vegas, where Paul has traveled with his teenage daughter Maya, to attend a security guard expo. At the convention, he discovers plans for a heist and is once again compelled to fight organized crime.
Reprising her role as Maya is Raini Rodriguez. The cast also features Eduardo Verástegui (For Greater Glory: The True Story of Cristiada), Blue Bloods’ Nicholas Turturro, David Henrie (How I Met Your Mother) and Daniella Alonso of TV’s The Night Shift. Another actor from the original movie returning to the cast is Gary Valentine, a frequent Kevin James co-star, with Suburgatory’s Anna Gasteyer playing his wife.
Directing the sequel is Andy Fickman, whose most recent work includes the Disney Channel series Liv and Maddie. His best known feature film is the 2010 Kristen Bell comedy You Again.
As with the first movie, the screenplay for this film was written by Kevin James and longtime collaborator Nick Bakay.
Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 will roll into theaters nationwide April 17, 2015.
