The Snack That's Always in Isaac Redman's Locker
With two of his team’s quarterbacks out with injuries, there’s never been more pressure on Pittsburgh Steelers running back Isaac Redman to perform. So how does Redman keep up his energy and endurance for game time? By stocking his locker with Perky Jerky, an all-natural beef jerky snack infused with caffeine.
“I eat a couple pieces before I go out to practice and it livens me up,” Redman told STACK. “I feel like I have a lot more energy out there than when I didn’t eat it, so I always keep a bag of it in my locker.”
What’s the secret behind this jerky that makes it different from the usual suspects? Perky Jerky is prepared with a seven-ingredient marinade that includes Guarana, a berry known for its caffeine content that is commonly used in energy drinks.
Redman started eating Perky Jerky as a pre-workout snack this season, and he’s has been loving its benefits. “During the week, it’s kind of hard to always get energized for practice. Sometimes, you need a little bit more push and pep in your step,” says Redman, “Plus I just like the way it tastes. It’s not tough like a lot of other beef jerkies.”
Redman has even got teammates like LaMarr Woodley hooked on the snack. “During training camp I handed out some of it to my teammates to try it out and everybody just loved it,” says Redman.
We got our hands on a pack of Perky Jerky and passed it around a recent STACK Monday morning meeting. All of our testers had rave reviews.
