‘Pitch Perfect 2’ Headed to Theaters This Spring
Pitch Perfect 2, the sequel to the popular 2012 musical, is on its way to theaters. The new installment raises the stakes, as the all-girl collegiate a cappella group Barden Bellas compete on the world stage in an international contest that’s never been won by an American group.
Anna Kendrick returns in the role of Beca, who succeeded in turning things around for the Barden Bellas in the first film. Also reprising their roles are Rebel Wilson, Elizabeth Banks, Alexis Knapp, Ben Platt, Brittany Snow, Skylar Astin, Anna Camp, Adam DeVine and Hana Mae Lee.
New cast members include Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy) and Hailee Steinfeld, who recently co-stared with Kevin Costner in the action thriller 3 Days To Kill.
In addition to co-starring in the movie as Gail, actress Elizabeth Banks is directing the film, making her feature film directorial debut—and, as she did for the first movie, producing the project with her husband Max Handelman.
Based on the book Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory, by magazine columnist and editor Mickey Rapkin, the screenplay was written by Kay Cannon, who also wrote the original movie.
Pitch Perfect 2 will arrive in theaters nationwide on May 15.
