Preview of Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine
Strikeforce is heading back to Las Vegas on Saturday, Jan. 7, when two top mixed martial artists, Luke Rockhold and Keith Jardine, will battle it out for the middleweight title belt. In addition, the event will also feature MMA veterans Robbie Lawler and Muhammed Lawal.
Rockhold, the current middleweight champ, is a strong fighter who has an 8-1 record with six submissions and one knockout. On paper, the fight looks to go in his favor. Jardine, a seasoned former UFC fighter, has had a rough time in his last few fights. After losing four straight in the UFC and one in Shark Fights, he has beaten only a few relatively unknown fighters. Fans can expect to see Rockhold with his hand held high at the end of the night.
Also on the card is a battle between two tough light heavyweights, Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal and Lorenz Larkin. Since the light heavyweight belt is vacant with Dan Henderson’s absence, both guys look to move up in the ranks and earn a title shot. Larkin is undefeated with eight knockouts; however, most of his victories have come against lesser known opponents. King Mo has fought four times in Strikeforce against some of the best in the league, suffering only one loss. Lawal is a strong favorite. Expect to see him win the fight in impressive fashion.
Rounding out the card will be bouts pitting Robbie Lawler vs. Adlan Amagov, Tyron Woodley vs. Jordan Mein, and Tarec Saffiedine vs. Tyler Stinson.
Tune in for an excellent Strikeforce show on Jan. 7 at 10 p.m. EST.
