Preview of UFC on FX: Melvin Guillard vs. Jim Miller
The UFC is starting 2012 off strong with their first free TV program, set to air Jan. 20 from Nashville on FX network. The broadcast will feature some of the top fighters in the UFC and should garner additional fans for the sport of mixed martial arts.
The main event is a lightweight bout between veteran Melvin Guillard and up-and-comer Jim Miller. Coming off a tough loss to number one contender Ben Henderson, Miller is looking to get back on track. He’s a submission specialist with two Submission of the Night awards and 11 total submissions out of his 20 victories. Guillard’s style could not be more different. He will look to keep the fight standing. He is a two-time Knockout of the Night winner with 19 total KOs. Both men are seasoned fighters and need a victory to move up in the lightweight ranks. Fans can expect a great fight.
If that lightweight battle is not enough to draw fans in, the welterweight fight between Duane “Bang” Ludwig and Josh “The Dentist” Neer will do the trick. Ludwig is a tough standup fighter who boasts 51 kickboxing matches and 32 mixed martial arts fights. He has 10 knockouts, and he holds the unofficial record for fastest knockout in the UFC at four seconds. But with 17 knockouts and 11 submissions of his own, Neer will be a tough opponent. This promises to be a very interesting bout, which could win fight of the night.
Also on the UFC on FX card is:
- Pat Barry vs. Christian Morecraft
- Jorge Rivera vs. Eric Schafer
- Kamal Shalorus vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov
- Ryan Jimmo vs. Karlos Vemola
- Charlie Brenneman vs. Daniel Roberts
- Joseph Sandoval vs. Nick Denis
This card is a must-see event, so don’t miss out. Tune in on Jan. 20 at 10 p.m. EST for the first UFC on FX.
