View With Your Crew: Hugh Jackman’s ‘Prisoners’
Oscar nominees Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal star in the crime thriller Prisoners. The movie follows Keller Dover (Jackman), a father who takes the law into his own hands after his 6-year-old daughter Anna and her best friend Joy disappear. The man Dover suspects is responsible for the disappearance of the two children is Alex Jones (Paul Dano), the driver of a dilapidated RV parked on Dover’s street. However, the officer in charge of the investigation (played by Gyllenhaal), after arresting him, lets him go for lack of evidence.
With time running out and anxiety running high, Dover decides to kidnap Jones in an attempt to find the two girls. Although he is working outside the law, his motives are compelling enough for us to get caught up in his raw emotion and root for him. The film’s trailers promise plenty of action and suspense as viewers are drawn into a parent’s worst nightmare.
Prisoners also features Maria Bello as Dover’s wife and Oscar nominees Terrence Howard, Viola Davis and Melissa Leo. It’s directed by Denis Villeneuve, who is known primarily for his French-language, Oscar-nominated film, Incendies.
Check it out in theaters this Friday.
