Rich Homie Quan Sues Record Label for $2 Million
Rich Homie Quan’s relationship with his independent label seems to have come to a bitter end. The rapper is suing Think It’s A Game Records and its owner, Girvan Henry, for more than $2 million over what he alleges are unpaid royalties. Documents reportedly indicate that the label reached an agreement with Def Jam for the distribution of RHQ’s single, “Type of Way,” which netted $500,000. The suit alleges that Henry use some of the funds to purchase personal property. “Unfortunately this is a classic case of a music artist being ripped off by those claiming to have his best interest in mind,” said Quan’s lawyer, Leron Rogers. “Quan has more than delivered on his part of the partnership, delivering hit songs that have sold hundreds of thousands of copies. Mr. Henry has taken advantage of Quan, and now it’s time for him to receive his just due.”
Chris Brown and Baby Mother Headed to Court
Chris Brown’s feud with Nia Guzman continues to escalate. Guzman, who mothered a child from Brown, petitioned the court for full custody and requested that the singer receive only supervised visits, saying she fears for the child’s safety. The legal docs mention Brown’s lifestyle as a problem, alleging that he has a drug problem and mentioning recent break-ins at his California properties. The singer responded via Twitter, writing, “Some men my age run from their responsibility as fathers. I embrace mine. Just sucks that some females use children as meal tickets. Using a child as leverage is never ok. The highest praise to the men who actually want their kids.” Brown also filed legal docs asking that paternity be officially established so that he can obtain joint custody.
