Real Life Details in FIFA 12
The receding hairline of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is just one example of the level of precision detail reflected in FIFA 12. According to producer David Rutter, the team at EA Sports used a 3D scanning process to capture tiny details in the faces of the most brilliant soccer players in the world.
“The [athlete] sits in what we call a diffusion dome with nine stereoscopic cameras positioned to get a 360-degree capture in a split second,” says Rutter. “These high quality images are then used to build a 3D head and resurfaced player model.”
So Rooney will look like Rooney, even if you’re losing 5 to 1 online against a kid from the UK.
