Remember When LeBron James And Kevin Durant Faced Off in a Heated Flag Football Game?
With the 2017 NBA Finals underway, LeBron James and Kevin Durant are in the midst of an epic battle.
But six years ago, the two NBA superstars faced off in a different sport—flag football. The event, dubbed LeBron’s Flag Football Classic, took place during the NBA lockout of 2011. It all started when LeBron found out that KD fancied himself a pretty good flag football player:
@KDTrey5 I need that invite next time! That’s really my sport! “Optimast Prime” is what they call me. Haa
— LeBron James (@KingJames) November 1, 2011
Set it up! My team ready RT @KingJames: @KDTrey5 Team KD35 vs Team King James do I hear? Flag football.
— Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) November 1, 2011
Soon enough, a game was scheduled with the University of Akron being the agreed upon venue. LeBron and Durant acted as the respective captains, and both filled out their rosters with personal friends.
Team LeBron won, 73-63. Here’s an ESPN segment that features the game:[youtube video=”hWH4TxpuhU0″]
