Resident Evil: Revelations 2 Delayed a Week
Resident Evil: Revelations 2 won’t hit shelves on Feb. 17 after all. The sequel has been delayed a week, and the first episode in the four-part series will now debut on Feb. 24 on PlayStation 3 and 4, and the day after for Xbox and PC gamers. The remaining episodes will follow the same scheduling scheme (arriving on the PS platforms a day early) and will be released on Mar. 3, Mar. 10 and Mar. 17. Capcom explained the delay in a post on CapcomUnity, citing a need to “fine-tune the final product.”
During an interview late last year, producer Michiteru Okabe said the game would focus on the horror aspect of the series instead of the action, but ultimately deliver both. “What we really liked, and what people seemed to like about the first Revelations was the focus on traditional horror and the serialized and episodic nature of the storytelling,” he said. “[With the sequel,] we’ve got the more traditional horror elements and the gameplay of the post-Resident Evil 4, action-centric era. It strikes a nice balance between the two. We’re definitely focusing on the horror, but it kind of lives between those two extremes.”
Each episode of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 retails for $5.99. Gamers can purchase the entire season for $24.99 and the disc for $39.99. Opting for the complete season or the retail disc will net players two bonus episodes and an additional Raid Mode character called Hunk. The disc also comes with a Raid Mode throwback map pack, four exclusive costumes and another Raid Mode character named Albert Wesker.
