You can learn about true loyalty and courage from some seriously tough movie characters. Although they weren't the main guys, each played a crucial role in winning his leader's battle. Here are two characters who, besides always having your back, can teach you about selflessness, fighting for a cause and working hard for the W.
Movie: Saving Private Ryan
Character: Private Daniel Jackson [Barry Pepper]
Calm, cool and collected, Private Jackson "is a fine instrument of warfare," who can clip a man from "anywhere up to and including one mile" away. Whether storming the beach at Normandy or perching high in a belltower, Jackson is always ready for duty and eager to put his neck on the line. Often positioned without backup, this sniper thrives on his strong faith, calling upon his Lord to give him strength and guidance to execute his assignment. Although he pays the ultimate price, his courage and valor determine the success of his squad's mission.
Character: Juba [Djimon Housou]
His brains and brawn shine through every scene he's in, but it's Juba's loyalty that defines his character. He's the guy everybody wants on their team. One minute he's helping you deal with a broken soul, and the next he's jabbing a trident through your opponent's heart. Quickly befriended by Maximus [Russell Crowe], Juba teams up with the Gladiator to meet every challenge they face, even overthrowing the Roman Emperor. Juba's allegiance to Maximus is apparent in their daily gladiator battles, the war against the world's most powerful man and even after Maximus' death.
