Surf’s Up With New Rip Curl Search GPS Surf Watch
Surfers can now be assured of always catching the best waves and proving the weight of their last surfing session with the new Rip Curl Search GPS.
Rip Curl announced the new watch during the the 53rd Annual Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach, Australia, during which the watch was put through its paces by several surfers, including three-time ASP World Champion Mick Fanning.
The Search GPS smart watch has several features designed especially for surfers. Most notably, it communicates directly with satellites to automatically provide the latest tide and time information for over 1,300 surfing locations worldwide—a significant improvement over existing smart watches, which have only pre-loaded, static data about surfing conditions.
Surfers can also track and record every wave of their surfs, including their top speed, distance and wave count. This data is displayed in real time on the watch, but surfers can also sync it later with their smart phone or computer and relive their most extraordinary surfing moments with graphs, images and maps of the location.
The new Rip Curl Search GPS surf watch will be released soon. Interested surfers can sign up to be notified when it arrives.
