Watch the New Teaser Trailer for ‘Rise of the Tomb Raider’
Crystal Dynamics released a teaser trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider during Microsoft’s E3 press conference on Monday. The game is a sequel to last year’s Tomb Raider reboot, which introduced gamers to a young, inexperienced Lara Croft.
“Featuring epic, high-octane action moments, [Rise of the Tomb Raider] will take gamers to multiple locations around the world, filled with exploration spaces that are some of the most beautifully hostile places on earth,” Microsoft said. “In addition, after hearing the cry from fans loud and clear, the game will put the tombs back into Tomb Raider, all in the franchise’s gritty survival-action style.”
Last year’s reboot was praised by critics for its smart introduction and development of a young Lara Croft. It received a number of accolades, including Game of the Year nominations from IGN and GameStop.
Many of the key people responsible for last year’s breakout hit will be back for the sequel. Rhianna Pratchett, who wrote the original Tomb Raider reboot, confirmed via Twitter she’s working on the project. Camilla Luddington will reprise her role as Lara Croft.
The trailer features Lara in therapy following the events of the last game, while scenes of Lara running through a forest and prowling through a cave play on screen. We also see a mysterious tomb as well as Lara’s signature pry axe and bow.
Crystal Dynamics didn’t reveal whether Rise of the Tomb Raider will be an Xbox One exclusive or also appear on the PC and PS4, like its predecessor. The game is currently slated for launch in late 2015.
