Rap News Rundown: Chief Keef, Tyga, 2 Chainz, 50 Cent
Chief Keef Associate, Capo, Murdered in Chicago
Rapper Capo, who was affiliated with Chief Keef’s Glo Gang, was murdered in Chicago last week. The 22-year-old was shot in the back while he was standing on a street corner on the city’s south side. According to reports, a 13-month-old infant, Dillian Harris, was also killed in the incident. In a rush to flee the scene and evade police, the suspects drove onto the sidewalk beside a bus stop and dragged the stroller with Harris inside for about a block before coming to a stop.
Authorities have two male suspects in custody. Thus far, only one of the men—21-year-old Antoine Hawkins—has been charged with first-degree murder in relation to the child’s death, aggravated fleeing and eluding police. Neither of them has been charged with the murder of Capo, but they are considered persons of interest.
Tyga Nude Photos Leaked; FBI Involved
Nude photos of rapper Tyga showed up online last week. Reports suggest the photos were sent to transgender actress Mia Isabella, whom the Cali rapper has been having an affair with for several years. Tyga has vigorously denied the rumors and engaged the FBI to find the source of the leaked photos.
He apparently commented on the incident, tweeting, “Don’t trust everything you read. Most people don’t care if [you’re] happy, only if you’re miserable like they are.”
Isabella released a statement but stopped short of denying the existence of a relationship. “It’s very sad that the idea of a man loving a trans person has to be considered a scandal when all people are equal—love always wins doesn’t it? I live in a world in my mind where everything is a fairy tale of love,” she wrote.
2 Chainz Sued by Fan Featured in a Video
2 Chainz is being sued by a North Carolina woman for calling her a “thot” in a video he posted on his website. In the suit, Christine Chisholm claims she was invited backstage at a concert to see the Atlanta-based rapper and then was questioned by him and fellow rapper Cap 1 about why she was back there. “We apologize. We thought you were the other Tina,” the rapper cracked.
Chrisholm reportedly wasn’t aware that she was being filmed until the end. 2 Chainz uploaded the clip to his site, where it was viewed by more than 10 million people, including her employers, who fired her out of fear she would bring “negative publicity.”
Chisholm is seeking $5 million in damages for harassment and public abuse. Thus far, the rapper has not responded to the lawsuit.
50 Cent Ordered to Fork Over $5 Million to Rick Ross’s Baby Mother
Speaking of offensive videos posted online, rapper 50 Cent was recently ordered to pay $5 million to Rick Ross’s baby mother, Lastonia Leviston, who was suing him for invading her privacy.
Leviston was caught in the middle when Fiddy’s war with Ross reached its zenith back in 2009. The New York rapper obtained a sex tape Leviston made with her then-boyfriend, added commentary and posted it online without her permission. “This was something done to me. I didn’t have a choice. I would never, ever do this to myself,” she testified.
50 Cent’s legal team said they were “disappointed in the verdict but very appreciative of the service of the jury and the court.” The jury is still deliberating on additional punitive damages and could possibly award Leviston more money. Perhaps in anticipation of the verdict, the rapper filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy.
